jaw, the whole Iraq issue is a grey area.
Few understood what they were getting into by going in there, and even less have any idea how they are going to get out of it. Given that we are somewhere in between at the moment it is no wonder that there is little understanding of the present situation.
If the responses that I have had to the point I was trying to make regarding the kids is any indication of what public opinion is, and such public opinion helps formulate government policy, then I fear for the future.
Placing the blame on the suicide bombers for the kids deaths makes out it is only a blame game that is being played. But we are talking about lives and something more is required and the only answer that I can see is that kids should be discouraged from surrounding troops whilst the situation is so dangerous. That should have been worked out long ago after the first such attack involving large numbers of kids.
It appears that some posters are pinning their hopes on a more compassinate type of suicide bomber appearing, and it appears that the authorities in Baghdad were hoping for that also otherwise they would have taken steps to avoid kids crowding around soldiers, or would they have? Both need to take a good hard look at their reasoning processes.
