jaw, it all comes down to control. We cannot control the bombers, but someone in authority has the power to control the situation where large numbers of kids surround troops that are on the front line in an ongoing war.
If the troops were so sure that the situation was safe enough to take off their helmets and flak jackets and leave their weapons in the vehicles, then maybe it might be safe enough to do a public relations exercise with the kids. But they know, and we all know that the situation has never been that stable and appears to be getting worse. It is a long time ago that the first lot of kids around soldiers were blown up and yet it appears as if everyone is prepared to push the entire responsibilty onto the bombers.
I'm not a leftie, far from it. I believe in free enterprise and of everyone taking personal responsibility for their actions. It is those who see the whole responsibility being with the bombers who are showing the leftist tendencies.
