A little more than a stone throw away from suprise1, in the mid nineteen eighties, Moonie Oil Company were drilling at Mereenie and had a terrible fire on rig Mereenie1, I saw it. The rig was a mess. One person died others were injured.
These issues are totally unacceptable and regretable but will happen. The entire feild was held up for a long time due to it.
