IMO, two reasons why you might buy the options:
* you believe the SP is gonna spike significantly prior to expiry; or,
* you think there is a bigger fool who will pay a premium over current prices before expiry.
The options are a gamble but could net you a significant multi bagger if a JV is announced soon.
