The threat of terrorism is being used by Authoritarians to centralise their control of ordinary people and remove their basic liberties.
Ultimately it will be:
Carry your ID card wherever you go or risk being fined. No ID card - no shopping. etc. etc. etc.

It is shallow thinking like that which will lead to the erosion of our freedoms.
Take it one step further and abolish physical cash. Everything you purchase will be identified by BIG BROTHER.
Have you thought of how pleasant it is to even go for a drive in your car and escape surveillance. Not any more. Under the guise of user pay road taxes there is a look at the idea of fitting all cars with monitoring devices. Yes - whatever road that car travels on, and whatever time it travels will be noted and user pays road fees charged. I couldn't give a stuff about the cost of the fees.
But it's the lack of freedom by knowing your travel is being monitored 100% by BIG BROTHER that is alarming.
Of course, if you are not doing anything wrong you have nothing to fear.
What a bloody convenient slogan.
Maybe the only thing we have to fear is the loss of our freedom. There is no freeedom when everything you do is being monitored by BIG BROTHER.
If in defending ourselves against terrorism we destroy our liberties, then the terrorists have won. My fear is the terrorists are well on the way to winning.
