Maintaining their percentage of the lease is not a free ride, they must pay for their share of development costs (seismic, drilling costs).
It looks like Ophir are keen to get things happening in this area quicksmart.
The Apache, PCL, Tullow, Origin joint venture drilling the Northern side of Mbawa (estimated within the next 6 months) will, if successfull, give a substantial boost to FAR's L9 lease prospectivity.
If offshore Kenya turns out to be full of oil or even gas, the move by FAR to keep a high percentage of the lease will be seen to be a fantastic move.
