slamp is just stirring the pot. Not sure why he would put his reputation on the line by saying it wont be commercial. Maybe he is really that confident? He has given himself pretty good odds though considering the amount of commercial plays found in the Canning to date.
I have been doing reading myself and the porosity levels are in line with Blina-1 so porosity levels are fine. I believe his main concern is the permeability of the well. Slamp stated below that there was zero permeability..it has been mentioned that Backreef-1 had tight permeability..is that zero like what Slamp has stated?
"Now Blackreef 1 falls in category 1. The rock tight has near zero chance of producing at commercial volumes. And no fracting will not help as the oil is trapped in small isolated pore spaces with zero permeability."
Also in relation to the permeability..they never got to properly test it and thats what they plan to do in the EPT.
"3.Characterise the previously poorly defined reservoir permeability and fluid properties (so as to better calibrate the Weatherford Petrolog CPX logs)."
It is easy to say he gives it 1 out of 100 chance of success..look at how many wells were drilled in the Canning and the only commercial discovery has been the Blina oilfield.
I still dont understand why he has stated that fraccing wont help..have been reading and I don't see any support for his comments..but I am not an expert.
"The scope of this evaluation may result in production testing and possible reservoir stimulation (including the possibility of acidising to improve limestone/dolomite formation permeabilty) utilising a fit-for-purpose work-over rig."
Below is a good read for those who want a better understanding of acidising. If your like me I enjoy learning about this so the link is provided.

I also notice a large stack of sellers in the higher price regions. It seems a little odd considering they dont have any chance of getting hit. Maybe someone is attempting to accumulate at lower prices prior to the test.
