I read that also but was it part of an investigation or just an expert opinion expressed at the time?

I guess it comes down one of following:

1. Someone other than Thomson has used his HSU credit card fraudulently and the HSU must take steps to recover the lost funds.

OR,

2. Thomson is not telling the truth and the PM has provided her on going support to an MP that has lied publicly and misappropriated union funds.

The FWA report may shed further light, but for some reason this won't be for another 4-6 weeks!
