If you wanted to Live there rather than invest in property?
imho better to rent than buy. Why?
Transient population makes for changing neighbours.Especially you might want to be able to move on without being tied down as a property owner.
Seaside house maintenance in the salt air is 'heavy'.Even the tin goods in the Cupboard rust in a few months and it's said you have to be a millionaire to live by the sea just to keep up with structural repairs.Window,Door hinges for starters but it's now the structural steel in the concrete and the construction concrete itself that gets eaten.
Paying Rent avoids Body Corporate Increases and Levies etc etc.
So RENT not buy a Gold Coast Lifestyle.
You'll be able to rent a more Marvellous view than you'll ever be able to afford to buy.
You may learn that Views are a "gimmick" for Buyers with owners soon 'devaluing' them by no longer looking at them and installing permant closed curtains so they aren't spied on by other high rise tenants.Curtains only opened for visitors to gain Lifestyle Envy.
As for cheap eats? well as long as you consider the Tweed RSL is a top night or some healthy lunch is mung beans and a fruit smoothie.
When I was there there was not much variety in Food like no ethnic etc to speak of. Tourist fare,Family Tourist emphasised like even the Bakeries still dished out concoctions with pink icing and often mock cream.
No paterisserie in Coolangatta.
Might have changed though along with those ridiculous beaches.
Really efe if you move to Coolangatta? You might set up a business of camel or donkey rides to transport beach goers from the car park to the [poor] surf.Try and get the concession to do sno cones and drinks at the halfway across Oasis!!
maybe you could really get a beach lifestyle and reintro the Mutton Bird man as seen Surfers since the 50's but no doubt no longer the go at that Surfers Paradise pit.
Anyhow getting too nostalgic about how the Gold Coast southern end used to be but my advice is Rent it Avoid getting passed the parcel of beaside home.
cheers
