Many companies will sell off lower priority stakes, whether in mining or research, where the opportunity presents. This has the twin benefits of increasing their own resources, plus enables them to focus more on core opportunities. The alternative is to either spread them thin by looking at more than they can handle at one time, and/or drag progress out.

It just came across as CSL wanted a head start on some promising opportunities. I daresay they would have also been interested in the others further advanced, but a company is not typically going to give up its primary assets unless it's in real need, as they are worth much more.
