The GST is also unconstitutional because some states are given larger grants and not treated equally. The GST effectively makes Canberra a social welfare centre for states.
When they introduced the GST, all taxes and charges should have been abolished, and now we have double the taxes.
Prices were meant to rise only in comparison with the GST but it resulted in hyper inflation and the government removed GST out of inflationary formula to hide the effect.
The effect of the carbon tax will created an unbalanced uncompetitive economy. Some industries will increase costs and there will be a flow on effect.
They have no choice but to abandon the tax or the labour party will cease to exist. They are now seen as no more effective than the democrats. I think it's too late for labour and at best they might have 4 to 8 seats after the next election.
Anyway as harsh as it seems, I view labour as a hostile foreign power indifferent to the welfare of Australia. I dont watch political interviews anymore because I dont think they have anything to say.
