On the other hand it's all about communication: saying he could of done it, there is absolutely no ambiguity as to meaning, even if grammatically incorrect.
Language is an evolving thing...look at how James Joyce wrote Ulysses and how Shakespeare invented dozens of words now in regular usage. Trainspotting was written phonetically but by reading it that way the Scottish accent comes through.
