Askari Metals (AS2) has begun a detailed mapping and sampling program at the EPL 7345 area within its Uis lithium project in Namibia.

The company engaged South Africa-based geological consulting firm Earthlab Technical to complete the program, which aims to identify various types of pegmatites and their outcrop dimensions and visible mineralogy.

During its due diligence phase last year, Askari identified multiple pegmatite outcrops that returned high-grade results. Highlights include 2.11 per cent lithium oxide, 1.3 per cent tin, 658 parts per million (ppm) tantalum and 4214 ppm rubidium.

That initial sampling program also suggested there may be different types of pegmatite outcroppings across the project area, including lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites.

AS2 Vice President of Exploration and Geology Johan Lambrechts said this sampling program was an “integral part” of the company’s exploration plan at Uis.

“Our drive to methodically explore our Uis lithium project is a testament to the culture of our company, and this is key to advancing our status in the lithium exploration space in Namibia,” Mr Lambrechts said.

“The company is committed to continuing its aggressive exploration activities aimed at unlocking the potential of our projects both in Namibia and Australia.”

Alongside the mapping and sampling program, Askari Metals is preparing for its inaugural reverse circulation drilling program across the EPL 8535 area. This is scheduled to begin next week.

The Uis lithium project comprises EPL 7345 and EPL 8535 and covers an area of 308.12 square kilometres.

AS2 shares were up a slight 0.84 per cent to trade at 60 cents at 2:27 pm AEDT.
