Argent Minerals (ARD) has identified copper mineralisation over five more prospects within its Copperhead project in Western Australia.

The company confirmed the “extensive” copper mineralisation following a first-pass rock chip heliborne reconnaissance survey.

Assays from rock chip samples taken from the Illirie Creek prospect returned the best copper grades of between 6.2 to 20.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, samples from Anomaly C returned up to 11.5 per cent copper with strongly anomalous zinc of up to 0.4 per cent and silver assays of between five to 24 grams per tonne (g/t).

Argent Managing Director Pedro Kastellorizos said the company was encouraged by the latest results and confident in the further delineation of surface copper mineralisation.

“These mineralised areas have shown to be extensive in terms of the strike length within the regional synclinal structures and Discovery Formation Siltstone,” Mr Kastellorizos said.

“These structures extend over 74 kilometres of strike, have excellent potential to host mineralisation and remain completely untested to date.”

First-pass exploration began at the Anomaly A, Prospect 3A, Anomaly C (a), Anomaly C (b) and Illirie Creek Copper prospects in November.

At the same time, the company assessed the logistics of upcoming ground exploration-based programs.

Argent said several “excellent walk-up targets” and potential zones of copper mineralisation lay with the Discovery Formation.

ARD shares were up 13.3 per cent trading at 1.7 cents at 3:05 pm AEDT.
