Venus Metals (VMC) has launched a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Manindi North prospect in Western Australia.

Manindi North forms part of the Youanmi lithium project, and is located within the granite and greenstone contact zone at the Youanmi greenstone belt, considered prospective for lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite mineralisation.

The RC drill program will test recently identified lithium soil and rock chip anomalies for pegmatite-hosted LCT mineralisation in the bedrock.

Venus completed geochemical surveys at its Youanmi lithium project, which displayed three northeast trending lithium anomalies, with the northern one centred on the reported beryl occurrence and a second anomaly located 50 metres to the south.

The high lithium concentrations in two rock samples revealed 2.1 per cent and 1.2 per cent lithium oxide, along with broad lithium anomalism in soil, which indicated the presence of pegmatite under local colluvium.

Drilling also aims to also test down-dip extension of the lithium-bearing pegmatite at the Central prospect.

Shares in VMC were up 11.1 per cent, trading at 15 cents at 3:05 pm AEDT.
