Galan Lithium (GLN) is preparing for the first round of drilling at its Greenbushes South project in Western Australia.

The company’s program of works has been approved, and the 2500-metre campaign is due to start on March 1, testing several targets south of the Greenbushes mine.

Through data collected from work completed to date, Galan has made multiple observations of minerals associated with pegmatites one metre below the sub-surface in the area about to be drilled.

GLN Managing Director Juan Pablo Vargas de la Vega said the company was looking forward to testing its hypothesis that significant lithium mineralisation existed south of the Greenbushes Mine.

“We are extremely encouraged by all data collected to date that demonstrates the strong potential for this to be the case,” Mr Vargas de la Vega said.

The company has also collected an additional 550 soil samples that have been sent for analysis to guide targeting and delineating mineralisation beneath the subsurface.

As drilling begins, the company has already been undertaking geophysics work over high trace element soil anomalies and expects results later this quarter.

Over at GLN’s Kirup project to the north of Greenbushes South, the company has identified four large target areas and has planned field mapping and soil sampling here.

GLN shares were down 3.9 per cent and trading at $1.11 at 2:11 pm AEDT.
