Lefroy Exploration (ASX:LEX) strikes "strong" gold and copper intersections at Burns Central, WA

  • Lefroy Exploration (LEX) hits multiple thick intervals of gold, copper and silver mineralisation at the Burns Central area within its Eastern Lefroy gold project in WA
  • The results come from the final assay of a 67-hole reverse circulation drilling program completed at Burns Central during the December 2022 quarter
  • Results from the program included 103 metres at 1.65 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 0.07 per cent copper and 0.24 g/t silver from 25 metres
  • LEX says this “significantly” strengthens and expands the mineralised footprint of the area
  • The data from the program, along with previous results, will support a planned mineral resource estimate for Burns Central, anticipated in April

Lefroy Exploration (LEX) has hit multiple thick intervals of gold, copper and silver mineralisation at the Burns Central area within its Eastern Lefroy gold project in WA.

The results come from the final assay results of a 67-hole reverse circulation drilling program completed at Burns Central during the December 2022 quarter.

The program aimed to evaluate the prospect’s system to a vertical depth of 200 metres from surface.

With the final 39 assay results in hand, the company found gold, copper and silver alkalic-porphyry-style mineralisation over 240 metres of strike north of the Burns Baseline discovery section.

Results from the program included 103 metres at 1.65 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 0.07 per cent copper and 0.24 g/t silver from 25 metres, including 38 metres at 3.83 g/t gold, 0.08 per cent copper and 0.26 g/t silver from 26 metres.

The company said these results “significantly” strengthened and expanded the mineralised footprint of Burns Central and outlined a large zone of strong gold and copper mineralisation that remained open in all directions.

“The discovery at Burns Central has only just scratched the surface, outlining a 480-metre-long area that remains open and is only one of multiple magnetic anomalies, such as ‘Lovejoy’, along the 2.5-kilometre trend,” Lefroy Managing Director Wade Johnson said.

“Initial drill testing has shown that these anomalies have all the right characteristics to host multiple Burns Central-type deposits.”

The data from the program, in combination with previous results, will support a planned mineral resource estimate for Burns Central, which is expected to be finalised in early April, and further drill planning is in the works.

Lefroy Exploration was last trading at 22 cents at 1:53 pm AEDT.
