Western Yilgarn NL (WYX) has identified a number of potential lithium pegmatite and nickel-copper-cobalt targets at its Bulga project in Western Australia.

The company on Thursday posted “promising” results from a 1077-hole auger geochemistry program.

Portable x-ray fluorescence (pXRF) testing on the samples showed potential lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites across a seven-kilometre-by-two-kilometre anomaly.

Additionally, nickel-copper-cobalt targets were discovered along a one-to-two-kilometre length with coincident geophysical targets.

“We are very excited by the extremely promising results from the initial exploration program at Bulga which has identified not only the potential for a significant LCT pegmatite discovery but also nickel-copper-cobalt targets to be tested,” Western Yilgarn Chairman Peter Lewis commented.

Western Yilgarn has moved to lodge a series of applications to add to the 154 square kilometres of the project, aiming to bring it to a total project area of 429 sqkm.

“The move to secure a greater area of exploration tenure is strategically sound and will secure the potential of the project,” Mr Lewis said.

The company confirmed it had resumed the auger program, with infill drilling to refine targets ahead of follow-up aircore or reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

Shares in WYX spiked 20 per cent to trade at 12 cents at 1:48 pm AEDT.
