Askari Metals (AS2) has begun a second round of drilling across a section of its Uis lithium project in central-west Namibia.

A second phase of reverse circulation drilling began at the end of February, aimed at producing 4000 metres of chips, samples and data.

The first phase of drilling is continuing at the same time, with the company intersecting pegmatites it considers significant, though assay results are still pending.

Mapping and sampling work is also ongoing, with 25 per cent of the project mapped to date. Askari expects to generate more drilling targets before this work is completed.

The company’s Vice President of Exploration and Geology, Johan Lambrechts, said the Uis project had “extremely high potential”, and the company planned to advance it along the value curve as efficiently as possible.

“Askari is continuing its philosophy of aggressive and hands-on exploration, with the second phase of drilling commencing on EPL 7345 since purchasing it a mere four months ago,” Mr Lambrechts said.

“This new phase of drilling results in the company having two separate drill rigs actively drilling on our Uis lithium project, producing tangible geological data and accelerating the company towards unlocking the significant potential of this well-mineralised lithium-rich pegmatite belt of the Erongo region.”

AS2 shares were down 0.93 per cent to 53 cents at 10:20 am AEDT.
