ClearVue Technologies (ASX:CPV) has reported test results in Singapore that confirm independent, third-party verification of ClearVue PV’s real-world performance benefits for clients in tropical regions.

The testing was completed at the Skylab facility of the Singapore Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

BCA conducted comparative tests on ClearVue Technologies’ second-generation photovoltaic insulated glazing units (Gen-2 PV IGU) system and tested its spandrel solution.

The BCA found that Gen-2 PV IGUs reduced cooling load by 22.8 per cent and overall energy savings by 7.5 per cent after accounting for energy generation.

It also improved thermal comfort for building occupants 96.1 per cent of the time and reduced imperceptible glare by 75.2 per cent.

“The BCA SkyLab results validate ClearVue PV as an outstanding integrated product that delivers strong thermal and energy outcomes. The test data proves our technology’s ability to simultaneously cut costs and enhance occupant comfort in the tropics by reducing solar heat gain.” ClearVue CEO Martin Deil said.

The BCA’s assessment revealed that ClearVue’s advanced Gen-2 PV IGUs, featuring high-energy output clear solar glass technology, can achieve remarkable energy savings of 71 per cent when paired with the Spandrel Solution.

Over a four-week period in July and August 2023, BCA directly compared the performance of a west-facing test cell fitted with ClearVue’s Gen-2 PV system and another cell with Singapore’s BCA Greenmark Platinum-certified double-glazed low-e windows.

Under the actual weather conditions of Singapore’s southwest monsoon season, a variety of metrics were assessed to gauge the energy savings and comfort enhancements provided by ClearVue’s triple-glazed Gen-2 PV IGU technology.

The results validate the appropriateness and significant advantages of what the Gen-2 PV IGU technology can offer to building owners and developers throughout Southeast Asia and other regions.

“BCA’s comprehensive testing program clearly shows the advantages our PV glazing technology provides… will help companies meet the increasing pressure on the building sector to reduce their carbon footprint to meet clean energy targets and current and incoming sustainability mandates,” Mr Deil said.

Similar to ClearVue’s initial IGU product, the second-generation version seamlessly incorporates solar cells into windows to generate electricity while enhancing a building’s energy efficiency.

Following the announcement made on September 4, it is now feasible to manufacture the Gen 2 PV IGU design at a large scale using unmodified glazing industry-standard production lines.

CPV was up 7.58 per cent, trading at 35.5 cents at 3:18 pm AEDT.
