Lucapa Diamond Company (ASX:LOM) and its Lulo Alluvial Diamond Mine partners, Endiama and Rosas & Petalas have announced the results of an “exceptional” stone tender, which valued seven lulo diamonds at $24.5 million.
A total of 534.9 carats were sold at an average price of $46,525 per carat, with the auction conducted by Sodiam E.P. in Luanda, Angola.
Among those sold, two diamonds commanded the highest prices per stone: a 180-carat Type IIa white diamond (seen in the picture above), and a 66-carat pink diamond (pictured to the right).
LOM CEO and Managing Director Nick Selby noted the tender underscored the resilience of the market for large, high-quality diamonds.
“This tender demonstrates that the weakness being experienced currently in the smaller goods that go into the mainstream diamond jewellery market doesn’t seem to have translated into the large, high-quality stones, where demand and prices remain robust”, he said.
Other high-value diamonds in the tender included a 10-carat pink diamond and white diamonds weighing 96 carats, 77 carats, and two diamonds each weighing 51 carats.
LOM shares were up 6.06 per cent, trading at 3.5 cents at 2:27 pm AEDT.
