Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) is poking around the edges of a region of home to a historic copper-gold mine hoping to find untapped deposits.
Focusing on two targets called Truncheon and Highway East respectively, geotechs are gearing up for a 9-hole 1.7km drill run using an RC rig.
What they’re chasing after is a set of interesting areas highlighted in underground electromagnetic data scans pointing to possible mineralisation; the company reported on Friday assays are due back in early December.
“We [have commenced] exploration drilling in the vicinity of the copper-gold rich Highway-Reward mine,” Sunshine chief Dr. Damien Keys said.
“Highway Reward was discovered in the 1980’s, mined predominantly in the 1990’s and closed in 2005.
“The drilling intersections for Highway-Reward were eye watering, with early results including 48m @ 11.92% Cu.”
A further target of interest will be subject to a geophys campaign on the cusp of the new year.
SHN last traded at 1.1cps.
