HotCopper Trends: Mesoblast raising $50M; Larvotto hits & Alterity Halt

It’s that time of day to check out which companies are trending the most on HotCopper as we head into lunch – here’s the 3 most watched announcements on Thursday as at 11.30am AEST.

  • Mesoblast Ltd: Mesoblast has by far captured the most attention on Thursday as the company raises $50M in an option to issue convertible notes. Shareholder reactions were mixed with most investors overall curious as to what the company might be planning with the funds. Private US-based entity SurgCenter, which is tied to NYSE-listed parents, is the major buyer.
  • Larvotto Res: Larvotto has reported further high-grade intercepts of gold-antimony systems on-site the company’s Eleanora asset of interest with the headline drill hit boasting a 28m intercept grading at 5.7g/t gold equivalent of which 0.42% of the result was antimony. A series of other smaller hits were flagged, including one 3m intercept grading higher at 11g/tAuEq. Shareholder reactions were positive; the stock went up +6% intraday.
  • Alterity Therapeutics: Alterity has issued notice of a trading halt on Thursday with shareholder reaction somewhat subdued once the market figured out that was for a capital raise. The stock presumably just needs more operating capital given no explanation around the raise was given (as is sometimes the case when a company is planning some major development), the company has 9.2B shares on issue.
