HotCopper Highlights Week 37: LKY nextdoor to MP Materials; Service Stream's DoD win & more

Good Afternoon and welcome to HotCopper Highlights for Week 37, I’m Jon Davidson. In this segment the stocks you were watching and discussing the most this week on Australia’s #1 finance website, let’s get into it starting with the most viewed.

Service Stream seemingly came out of nowhere this week, joining other forum darlings as the company inked an eight figure contract with the Australian Department of Defence to handle technical comms across a series of bases nationally. It’s yet another stock to count among the current market winners, guns and gold, ignoring US-based rare earths companies of course.

In a similar vein, Locksley Resources – now looking for antimony in the US, because of course it is – rocketed yet another 35% on Friday as it picked up digs in the United States nextdoor to MP Materials, which earlier this year received rare earth pricing guarantees from the US Pentagon.

Finally, Boss Energy made the boards as the company has finally unveiled to the market a timeline to figure out how much uranium it can actually produce from its South Australian Honeymoon project after CEO Duncan Craib quit right before a forecast downgrade last month.

And what about the most discussed stocks?

Polynovo made the most discussed list after a fairly mixed week. The company’s FY25 results have in part led to a 22% share price rise over the last month, even after the stock fell out of the ASX200 last Friday. But the company has also received a $2 price target from Macquarie, leaving users digesting possible outcomes.

Pilbara Minerals meanwhile, a regular feature on the most discussed boards, this week climbed to the top as Chinese goliath CATL resumed operations at a key mine in China only 30 days after suggesting a 3 month shutdown. That tanked the stock price, bringing back bad memories of the lithium slump.

Finally, 4D Medical – by far the hottest thing in biotech right now – generating chatter as winners and bagholders discussed the stock’s sensational climb above $2 a share before sinking back down to around $1.90. Despite announcing its working with AstraZeneca in Brazil on Friday, shares remain off peak levels.

That’s HotCopper Highlights for this week, I’m Jon Davidson, have a great weekend and we’ll see you on Monday.
