Market Close: ASX inks 2 red days to finish off the week as sentiment stalls

There hasn’t been much change today. The market plunged and has hovered around 1.1% down ever since.

At close it’s lost just shy of 85 points, to be at 7,727.6 points.

Every sector ended the day in the red, Consumer Discretionary was by far the poorest performer, shedding 2.45%.

ToysRUs ANZ (ASX:TOY) dropped 10 per cent a day off an already low base after launching a Prospectus to international wealth and investments company Mercer.

MND last traded at $13.67.

Restaurant Brands New Zealand (ASX:RBD) ended up just short of 3.4% as the company’s AGM was well received.

The fundamental source of excitement appears to have come from the performance recap for FY23.

The company defied difficult economic conditions to see total store sales up 8.1% vs FY22, rising to $571.8M.

RBD last traded at $3.05.

Finally, Playside Studious (ASX:PLY) ended up +6.32% on news it’s developing a new Game of Thrones game.

Notably, Playside Studios returns are up nearly +170% YoY.

PLY last traded at 92.5cps.

In the red…

Talisman Mining (ASX:TLM) ended down -7.9% as the market was dissatisfied with the explorer’s latest drill results.

The company flagged a massive intersection 156m in length with lead, silver and zinc at relatively low grades.

A second drill section at 10m in length boasted higher grades – with silver at 59.2g/t – however, at 294m depth, this wasn’t enough to push the stock into the green.

TLM last traded at 35cps.

Aurum Resources (ASX:AUE) ended down -3.75% after reporting its latest gold assay results.

The company flagged a 74m thick intersection hitting gold, however, gold grades were relatively low.

The company clocked concentrations of gold at 1g/t – well below the 4g/t threshold typically accepted as “high-grade.”

AUE last traded at 38.5cps.

Finally, Ecofibre (ASX:EOF) ended the day down -7.69% as the company’s trading update was received with consternation.

Ecofibre Advanced Technologies Inc outgoing President Jeff Bruner has been unable to agree on a transition plan, meaning that the entity is bringing forward his resignation immediately.

The company also flagged lower demand in some of its consumer segments.

EOF last traded at 6cps.
