The ASX has been trading mostly flat, down by a whisker at 7,781 points.
Real Estate has been the best sector, up 1.15%, followed by Telecommunication, up 0.55%, and Information Technology, up 0.5%. Discretionary has been the worst performer, down 0.8%; Staples is down 0.35% and Financials has lost 0.2%.
Macquarie has downgraded ASX mining stocks, resulting in big share price moves in the sector. The broker slashed coal forecasts due to softer demand and modest supply growth from Russia and Mongolia. It downgraded Whitehaven Coal and New Hope to “neutral” and Coronado to “underperform.”
Among the most watched on HotCopper forums today is MTM Critical Minerals (ASX:MTM) which entered into a partnership with Vedanta on aluminium waste.
Also trending is Greentech Metals (ASX:GRE), which today unveiled a massive sulphide intersections at its Whundo Copper project.
Rounding out the most discussed: Boss Energy (ASX:BOE), after it doubled its stake in Queensland uranium developer Laramide Resources (ASX:LAM) today.
