With more than seven million users on the HotCopper forums, every discussion and speculation can move Australian markets – which is why getting out in front of those trends is so important for any trader worth their salt. In this daily HotCopper Trends column, we break down the top three stocks talked about on any given trade day, and why they’ve drawn attention from hawk-eyed users.

There’s been a very clear Tuesday topic forming on the HotCopper forums today: Invictus Energy (ASX:IVZ), which went into a trading halt just past nine o’clock this morning. The pause will last until Thursday at the latest.
As for the why, Invictus is cooking up a capital raise; there’s plenty more question marks besides. My colleague, Jonathon Davidson, has written more.
Before it pulled the brakes, IVZ had been 5.3cps. It’s been down -34.5% YTD.
Kaili Resources (ASX:KLR) has popped up on the HotCopper forums again, too, with the shock Week 34 “winner” responding to an ASX please explain letter.
While there’s not going to be any +8,000% gains coming again (we suspect, at least), the wider forums have hooked into the once-microcap’s story now. To midday, more than 5,000 followers have piled into Tuesday’s threads.
And finally, Cyclone Metals (ASX:CLE) has drawn plenty of interest after it received Section 249D notices and alerted shareholders on the situation.
Cyclone’s been trying to become “one of the world’s largest high-grade iron ore producers,” and part of that process has been cleaning house where possible. Even with the changes, CLE stock is up +276% YTD.
As for the bourse at large, it’s still down after losing -0.4% out from open.
