I was paying taxes from the time I commenced my apprenticeship right up until I left, including as a soldier. In fact my tax paid increased dramatically as my income did.
As for what I do now. I paid my own way without any assistance from employers or govt. I paid my way through uni and all certification courses to enable what I now do, me nobody else.
I am no burden on Aus now and nor do I intend to be in the future as a self funded retiree from my own non subsidised efforts.
If the govt reversed the inequitable treatment handed out to Australian pensioners, and our veterans...our pioneers, to give what is handed out so freely to illegals that have never lifted a finger for Aus then my view may change. Until then the current situation stinks!
