12jazz, I have been eyeing AGO for a few months and considering jumping in. However I won't at present as I think it may be a heavy target for shorting for the time being.
I think AGO is a solid company with a solid future, takeover possibilities included or not.
However there are a number of factors at the moment and my reasons for not jumping in yet.
Possible withdrawal of diesel rebate.
No rail infrastructure and no deal in play as yet. One may take this out of the equation with a QRN announcement, however that may also incur debt.
Possibility of large debt being incurred to meet infrastructure and resource growth, placing company at higher risk valuation.
Purchased resources for expansion are further inland.
These reasons aren't definitive, but IMO AGO may unfortunately get hammered further, at least in the short term anyway, time will tell on that.
