Better still provide them with apprenticeship style training that will actually lead to a real job. The government needs to get some job creation schemes happening.
Haha...maybe train them to be childcare workers and expand the hopelessly expensive childcare service we now have, or at least think of some strategy that will actually provide real work instead of just cutting their food and rent money and getting them to look for jobs they won't get/sending them to useless courses that won't lead to jobs either.
A lot of the reason these poverty stricken young kids have kids themselves is that they will have enough money to pay rent etc because they know they are basically unemployable and often have parents on welfare themselves.
It has become a viable career option for generational welfare, which is hideously dysfunctional and increases the numbers of children brought up in hopeless situations.
Create jobs for these young mums, train them and give them some dignity and a role model for their children.
