Rafish, you're sounding less like Don Chipp and more like Tony Abbott (in whose electorate I live, and whom I have not met -- although he does send me very nice letters from time to time inviting me to this and that event where he will be the speaker and I presume frothing at the mouth as usual; but I never go, I see more than enough of him on television, and I don't even watch television, although sometimes there is a soundbite of his on the radio news, which I do listen to, unless I can get up out of bed in the morning quickly enough to switch it off).

But is any of this relevant?

Oh yes, I say that because it may or may not be that Don Chipp was successful in his quest. Tony Abbot, whatever the government does, and whether or not it was once Liberal policy (if they have anything so old-fashioned as policies any more), finds fault. Further, he has nothing better to offer.

I also believe that to use the word 'Australian' and 'culture' in the same sentence, without some sort of negative context, is an oxymoron. And I am an Australian before you ask.
