West Moreton District chief executive Pam Lane says Watpac Construction will build new car park at Ipswich Hospital
Watpac Construction has won tender rights to build for a new, multi-level car park at Ipswich Hospital.
West Moreton District chief executive Pam Lane said the car park would increase parking spaces close to the hospital by 50 per cent and the new work was part of a $128 million expansion of hospital facilities.
"The new car park will provide user-friendly options for patients and health service users and ease congestion in streets surrounding the hospital," Ms Lane said.
It is believed a community forum with representatives of Watpac Construction will be held during the design phase of the project.
The site for the new car park is adjacent and towards the east of the existing multi-level car park. A walkway will connect the two car parks.
It is uncertain when construction will start. Features of the car park include open design to maximise natural light, floor finishes which minimise tyre noise, and dimmable lighting to minimise impact on neighbouring properties.
