Sorry but your story doesnt wash with me.
When you fork out $350k, you do it at the last minute.
If the intention was to hold those shares then the sensible time to pay up is the day before expiry. If the intention is to sell them, then there is a reason to convert early.
Its very simple logic that most would understand.
If they are Azure options, then they would be sold quickly as they wouldnt normally be investors but would see the options as a fee for service and be interested in getting what cash they can ASAP.
Maybe they had an agreement with someone to convert and deliver the shares at an agreed price? Who knows, but they are unlikely long term holders.
