I certainly think renting gives you more flexibility. It means whenever you change jobs you can always move to be closer to the money.
I would have hate to have bought my place only to get a better job 30 km away and have to commute that far everyday.
People on average get a new job every two years, so owning a home can become a huge tax on commute time if you cant move all the time.
