puntland drill campaign

In the generalised stratigraphy of Puntland (Sproule International)there are 3 possible sandstone hydrocarbon bearing formations -Jesomma (uppermost), Gabredarre and Adigrat (just above basement). Jesomma and Adigrat have had hydrocarbon shows on the Shabeel-1 drill. A question mark exists over Gabredarre but this is not surprising as these are fluvial deltaic sandstones and no-one knows how far the estuarine delta's extended. From memory they start at several hundred kms width in Yemen and thin to about 60kms going West into the Horn region. Log data showing 3m of potential pay were not considered to warrant testing in the Adigrat formation. The 12-20m of net pay in Jesomma will have to be evaluated and may or may not be commercial. What is critical is that this drill has proved an active petroleum system exists. If this can be confirmed 3.5km to the North at Shabeel-N then it would be excellent. As I see it, we are trying to prove the existence of commercial oil in order to spin off this asset and sell off with in-specie distribution to shareholders. Viewed in that perspective it seems to me that the campaign is going to plan. This is all just my opinion. Please DYOR.
