Another reply from Sophia (i had asked about why test after Shab N and
TD)
Good afternoon!
Thank you for your email. We decided to wait for the second well
really just for practical, cost effective reasons. We know we want to
drill the second well because the results of the first well suggest
that we do have something here – but we think it would be best to get
the second well drilled (as it is quite hard work to drill here
because of security, etc.) and then test both at once – then we’ll
have more accurate data about the volume and productivity potential
over all. Mobilization of equipment is a feat which while you’re
doing it seems like getting to the moon – security measures are
incredible – dealing with threats, IED’s, etc., etc. plus we need to
get some good equipment in there – some of the equipment we have is
really third tier – now that we feel quite encouraged we are going to
do it . They are quite intrigued by the Jesomma sands and certainly
are keen to see them in Shabeel North – but they haven’t yet finalized
the prognosed total depth – I suspect they may want to drill deeper to
see if they see more oil lower down like they did in Shabeel 1 but
thicker sections of course. My understanding is that it is 3 metres
in total.
Best regards,
