"Here's how it works: any company which has a facility (plant, factory, premises or similar) directly emitting more than 25,000 tonnes of carbon a year will be forced to cough up $23 a tonne for that pollution."

Mark, you seem to be a full bottle when it comes to the carbon dioxide tax....
a litre of diesel is considered to produce 2.67 kilos of CO2 right? Therefore 100,000 litres will produce 267,000 kilos right?
The carbon tax kicks in to prosecute any company prducing over 25,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum from any part of it's operation right?
So if a company has sufficient vehicles to produce over 25,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year they are going to have to buy carbon credits at $23.00 per tonne for every tonne of carbon dioxide produced.
Therefore wouldn't every trucking company that operates more than about 90 trucks will be hit with the carbon dioxide tax. That is based on each of the 93 trucks burning 100,000 litres of fuel per year to travel 200,000 kms average.
Ummm, let's see, Linfox, Toll, K & S, Australia Post, and a whole lot of councils and other transport companies will be paying a carbon tax as of 2014.
Am I right or have I got the numbers wrong?
