Julia Gillard has steered through a mountain of important reforms of crucial importance to Australia. She has demonstrated amazing negotiating skills.
Gillard has however been a spectacular failure as a parliamentary performer & tactician. She has also failed to make meaningful connections with mainstream Australians.
IMO that demonstrates she should have remained a loyal deputy to Kevin Rudd - someone for whom the public still has great affection.
