Ok so let's throw a few bio's around in here that we can go and research.
1 that I have a personal interest in (as a long term holder) is VLA - Australian company viralytics. These guys have commenced phase II on one of their drugs CAVTAK in late stage melanoma patients.
The great thing about CAVTAK is that it destroys cancer cells, not like chemotherapy which is simply lethal to all cells. It finds it's cancer cells by tracking what they call the I-CAM 1 cell which is found in seriously large numbers in cancer cells. Then it infects the cancer cells and kills it.
Phase I was completed last year with great effect on up to I believe 9 patients. None of them having a negative side effect. 50% of them having tumour reduction. Now is phase II which is due to be fully complete by 2013 but we will get updates of its progress as the data matures along the way. Keep your eyes on this one, she will boom. First update was that first lot of treatment was well tolerated. Looking good.
VLA had a write up in the Sydney morning herald about 2 weeks ago titled "could this drug cure cancer?". Read it.
