vcj,
This might help with perspective:
"interest in the stock seemingly at an all time low at the moment"
I purchased my first parcel in NEN last January at 17c. for the previous 6 months the stock traded between 10c and 15c and if the volume chart for this period was a cariogram then the patient would have been read his last rights. Now, just over a year later the market is positively chipper in comparison. Sure the stock has come of a peak after running real hard in the Q1 rally but so has everything, but "all time low", not on any measure I can think of.
"an announcement on Vietnam no closer than it was a year ago"
Interesting comment. In fact if you go back and look at the farmout announcement on May 20, 2011 (a year ago) you will note that said announcement is the completion of the farmout to Kris, making NEN and Kris 50:50 partners. This isn't the farmout deal currently pending.
A year on we are nearing completion of a subsequent farmout deal which involves both NEN and Kris bringing in a 3rd partner who is yet to be announced. Saying that it is no closer than a year ago is completely wrong because the current farmout wasn't even on the table this time last year. In fact the entire deal has been done since last year and should be quite close to complete.
Interestingly that previous farmout to Kris was announced on May 4, 2010 so it took just over a year to finalise due to delays in getting govt approvals. By comparison this current farmout to god knows who was only agree to in Jan 2012, ie 4 and bit months ago. Seems like forever only yesterday in the overall scheme of things.
Give it time. It will settle. Don't assume the xmas high was anything more than an anomally in a market rally. When the results are in the market will react accordingly. We are all long here and for good reason. Just wish I had the space cash to double my holding while the prices are good.
