Aurora Oil & Gas Limited (ASX:AUT) will join the S&P/ASX 100 index effective from June 15.
Aurora’s chief says the inclusion in the index “reflects the successful transition from exploration success to a rapidly growing international oil and gas producer.”
Aurora has been focused on its takeover efforts of Eureka Energy Limited (ASX:EKA) which it hopes will build its Eagle Ford portfolio.
Aurora is a 4.38 per cent shareholder in Eureka.
In the first half of the 2012 financial year, Aurora Oil & Gas generated a net profit of $30.1 million.
