That's what we get lulled into thinking every time. 'This time for sure it's the bottom...' and no.

One thing that is interesting to me though is regarding recent times. The approach of massively borrowing shares from our very own super funds and then using those millions and millions of borrowed shares to repetetively smash the market into submission... Merryl lynch, bank of america, matthews captial, and also other big players like macquarie bank.

How many of these big players also sell margin lending products to their clients??? I don't have a margin loan myself but they have become popular over the past 10 years. These big players would be privy to the LVR ratios and portfolios of their clients and be able to use the technique of borrowing and dumping shares on market to trigger margin calls for their own clients to either trigger even more selling on purpose or to get clients to extend themselves further and further into debt.

Now surely that is not happening is it? But I do not trust strockbrokers or large broking firms one bit. They are bad as lawyers in my book as far as greed is concerned.
