NEW ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION WORK IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Downer EDI Limited (Downer) today announced it had been awarded a new
electrical and instrumentation contract by BHP Billiton Iron Ore valued at
$71.7 million.

The Newman HV Power System Augmentation project forms part of the broader
Jimblebar Project that will increase the ore production capacities of BHP
Billiton Iron Ore's Western Australian assets.

Under the contract, Downer will be responsible for both Greenfields and
Brownfields transmission line and substation works to provide power to a new
mine at the Jimblebar operations. The scope of works includes:

o The supply and installation of electrical power and control components for
two new substations;
o Modifications on existing substations and transmission lines and the
upgrade of the network control system; and
o The installation of a new 132KV transmission line between Newman and
Jimblebar mine.
