So sorry to hear that Michelef, hope all works out ok for your son.

Its not just the workers who suffer, its the families who rely upon them. Never easy coming home and telling your partner and children I haven't got a job anymore.

The admin jobs aren't usually in an isolated area so hopefully they will find other employment soon.

When BHP shut down their operation in Ravensthorpe it decimated a whole community. Some of them had just pulled up stumps and moved their families there because BHP promised x number of years of employment etc etc. The state government had even upgraded the education facilities, local business had taken out loans to expand so that they could just cater for the increased population.And overnight it just all collapsed.wasn't the first time it has happened, won't be the last.
