Ah The Count cant look at a graph and work it out for himself. So here is the tale of the tape.
When Costello was the Treasurer the household saving ratio as a % of household disposable income was less than 5% with it reaching ZERO in 2002. It is only just getting back to above 10% now under Labor and Swann.
Costello was a fool.
When Costello was the Treasurer between 1995 and 2005 the real household income grew by 2.5% per annum , but the real household expenditure grew by 2.8% per annum. That means spend more than you have.
It is getting back to more reasonable levels under Labor and Swann.
Costello/Howard encouraged people to spend their future!!
