Who gives a shit about wind power when you can make bluegen power cheaper, faster, cleaner, twenty four seven.
We don't have to put down all other forms of power to boost the one we think is best (or have investments in)! Different power sources have different advantages and disadvantages, and there are benefits to diversity (risk reduction, but also just network management).
A well-sited onshore wind farm is a fair bit cheaper than gas CHP in places with high gas prices, and has lower greenhouse emissions as well. Intermittency is a problem, as is the limited number of good sites. But that's an argument against getting (say) more than 20% of the UK's power from wind, not an argument against it generally.
Similarly with CFCL-style mCHP. This is a non-starter as a _complete_ solution to power generation, because it can't be started up and shut down quickly enough (like hydro or pumped storage) and while it reduces transmission losses for households it doesn't make sense for industrial loads. My suspicion is that the 25% or so of their power generation that the Germans want to move to mCHP systems is probably the most that's going to be feasible.
Not a single country in the world, despite their radically different policy settings, gets all their power from a single source. There's a reason for that.
