My choice: Costa Brava. Barcelona is a great city and you would be close to Europe and Andorra for an occasional shopping trip and the Pyrenees are beautiful.
More practical [because I could learn their language quicker] the southern states of the US. The music and big oval racing could keep me amused for a while.
