    OH JOY.
    JUST WHAT WE NEED.

LEARNING HOW TO MINING UNDER OUR WATER CATCHMENT AREA MORE.

Posted by Gav, 30/04/2012 4:02:09 PM, on Illawarra MercuryWow, another informed activist...

Posted by Joyful, 30/04/2012 4:23:22 PM, on Illawarra MercuryGav,
You are truly ignorant of the facts, Joy Mining Equipment, are an "Equipment" manufacturer, we make mining equipment, we do not actual mine anything. People like you who are ignorant of the facts make life a lot more difficult for the people trying to find some middle ground between caring for the enviroment and the necesity's of society.

Posted by Mt Keira- Scott, 30/04/2012 4:36:49 PM, on Illawarra MercuryI want to have a go at one of those machines.

Posted by Bazza, 30/04/2012 5:34:45 PM, on Illawarra MercuryBeware greenies. They are the new communists. They want everyone to pay for their doctrines whether we want them or not. Mostly not.

So making mining equipment means your hands are clean? Without your equipment, companies like Gujarat wouldn't be able to longwall mine under our water catchments. It's like saying those companies who manufacture weapons (like BAE systems, Lockhead Martin) are free of any responsibility when it comes to those millions of civilians killed during pointless wars. The continued R&D of longwall mining machines is a step in the wrong direction -I don't see how it is finding the 'middle ground'. Why can't you take a step in the right direction &manufacture renewable energy technologies

Posted by Elephant in the room, 30/04/2012 6:00:19 PM, on Illawarra Mercurywell said Mt Keira Scott- infortunately extreme lefties dont see reason and dont understand the point of balancing environment and societies needs, its just lock it up and leave it.

Posted by tikkat3, 30/04/2012 6:01:07 PM, on Illawarra MercuryGav,

Your comment didn't even make sense.

Why don't you inform yourself before making nonsensical statements in CAPITALS.

Posted by RP, 30/04/2012 6:25:13 PM, on Illawarra Mercuryhow 'innovative' of the 'innovation campus' to get a tenant in 'manufacturing' that perpetuates this countries position as nought but a quarry...... FAIL.......

Posted by TouchOneTouchAll, 30/04/2012 8:19:10 PM, on Illawarra MercuryMK Scott -Isn't that statement a little like Glock only makes handguns and can't be responsible for people shooting them?

Now as for Innovation Campus, my only concern is if the financial - R&D package will ever influence the University's judgement in research matters that would favour the environment over mining. Not saying that Joy would ever step over the ethical line.

    To the "Greenies"

Did you know that the majority of coal is used for steel making? How do you propose the use of renewable technologies without steel? or how are you going to commute to your activist marches without the steel used for the car, bus or train that you're travelling on?? As soon as you stop using all of these modernity's and produce a tangible alternative to our current way of life, your argument is void.

Posted by Joyful, 1/05/2012 9:11:26 AM, on Illawarra MercuryThe mung bean eating loonies are out again!

Why is it every time a story appears in the paper we get these people whining. They shouldn't even be on a computer reading the paper - they are using a piece of equipment that is probably produced by the non-environmentally friendly manufacturing techniques out. Plus it is being powered by a coal or gas fired power station. Hang your heads in shame!

Posted by TCB, 1/05/2012 10:22:53 AM, on Illawarra MercuryThe problem isnt with mining, its with destructive longwall mining. This produces subsidences of over 2 metres just for one seam. Both the Bulli and Wongawilli seams are now being longwalled. Given that most of the mining in the Illawarra is under the Sydney Water Catchment area, that has huge repercusions. I'd rather have the water for eons that the coal for 30 or 50 years. They could remove 50-60% of the coal in first workings but the greedy miners would rather use longwall and take out 80%. The innovation will be removing the coal and not impacting our survival, the environment and our kids

Posted by Gav, 1/05/2012 12:56:14 PM, on Illawarra MercuryHey Gav, i'm willing to bet that you've never even been in a mine? True? You might want to go back to your books to find out some real facts..

Posted by Larry Emdur, 1/05/2012 11:19:13 PM, on Illawarra MercuryRemember the big anti Joy Mining Picket Line run by the South Coast Labour Council which was the prime mover in getting the UNi started back in the 1950s. Maybe this whole University thing was just a very dumb idea.

Posted by no joy, 2/05/2012 1:37:32 PM, on Illawarra MercuryThis is a major company setting up a base here in the Illawarra, its an example of what we've all wanted for a long time, Job Creation.

Please encourage other companies to do the same.

Posted by Jim, 2/05/2012 8:54:33 PM, on Illawarra Mercury@Otfordeco,Elephant in the room and all the extreme lefties. How about you give up their dependance on coal, and switch off their lights, give up their Prius and everything else dependant on coal to help relieve the demands and see how long they last ?????
Be reasonable, inroads are being made to the development of alternatives, the fiscal, and beauracratic hinderances are not helping.....and as far as guns go, people kill people.......
