That explains the sudden urge I have to pray 5 times a day in the direction Mecca. I better lay off those chicken rolls.
More seriously, there are a number of different methods of halal slaughter. Some are the same as Australian methods where the animal is stunned before slaughter but some dude in a funny hat says a prayer. I have no problem eating this chicken.
However some abbatoirs in Australia use traditional religious slaughter for halal meat where the animal is not stunned before slaughter causing additional pain. Another example of barbarism in religion - IMO this type of slaughter should be banned in Australia. Imagine asking especially for halal or kosher meat knowing age animal has been tortured for your eating pleasure.
