My relo - a school principal - office often stormed by rudely abusive irate parents complaining petty trivialities, such as ham sandwiches being next to (defiling) something else in the food category in the school canteen lunchtime displays. How dare they do this to their child.
Also, how dare their daughters be subjected to that evil, music! Not allowed anywhere within cooee of anything musical. MUST be stopped!
Same parents who never, ever, turned up for any school working bees. Teachers usually taking their place on the rosters.
But same parents who came, in their flash cars, if there was something to do with some financially advantageous welfare ++ issue.
After 20 years, and having some lovely students of this and any other belief system - their boorish parents not being their kids' fault - he left. Couldn't take it any more. But he tried. And likes to believe he left behind a very good legacy of love and tolerance, and consideration for others, values he tried to instill into "his" kids school population (over 600 of them) to the best of his ability.
Lots of tears from lots of kids when he moved on. No one could have been more tolerant and patient.
